Digital Nomad or Remote worker Visa
Temporary Resident Visa As A Digital Nomad
If you are a foreigner and have an employment contract with a transnational company or self-employment, you may apply for a temporary resident visa as a remote worker as long as you meet the following conditions:
- You perform assignments that take effect abroad
- Receive income from a foreign source and with an annual amount not less than thirty-six thousand US dollars, meaning, three thousand dollars per month (US$3,000) or its equivalent in foreign currency
- Have a medical insurance that covers your period of stay in Panama
- Sign an affidavit of non-acceptance of a job offer in Panama
Having been granted residency you will automatically be able to work as a remote worker in Panama without the need of any work permit or additional procedures.
This visa has a valid term of nine (9) months extendable once expired. To apply for this visa you will have to comply with the following requirements:
- Power of Attorney authenticated by a Notary Public. The power of attorney must contain the name and nationality of the applicant’s parents
- Three (3) photographs
- A copy of passport authenticated by Notary Public
- Criminal Record
- Certificate of Health
- Personal Background Affidavit Form.
- Completion of the corresponding application form, which will contain the applicant’s commitment to assume the costs of return or repatriation.
- Copy of the applicant’s medical insurance policy with coverage in the national territory and in force for the period of the applicant’s stay.
- Certification or proof of the existence of the foreign company in the place where it is registered.
- Letter from the company, on letterhead, signed by the legal representative, describing the following:
a. The general information of the applicant
b. The position and functions to be performed
c. The applicant’s monthly income, which may not be less than three thousand U.S. dollars (US$3,000.00) or its equivalent in foreign currency, periodicity of the payments, and that the same comes from a foreign source
d. The work modality (remote work)
e. The commitment to assume your return or repatriation expenses to the country of origin or destination, if necessary
- Affidavit of non-acceptance of an employment offers in Panama, with nationals, residents, tourists or companies, to carry out business locally
- Payment of two hundred and fifty dollars (US$250.00) in favor of the National Immigration Service
