QUALIFIED INVESTOR VISA

To attract foreign investment and contribute to national development, the Government of Panama created the Qualified Investor Residence Visa program through Executive Decree 722 of October 15, 2020, amended by Executive Decree 109 of October 13, 2022,

This type of Visa grants permanent residency in Panama through a minimum investment of US$500,000 from any foreign source, either in a personal capacity or through a legal entity in which the applicant is always the final beneficiary of the shares of the corporation.

It allows the applicant the option of investing in any of the following:

  • Real Estate: US$300,000 free of liens until October 2024; US$500,000 onwards. 
  • Real Estate Promise to purchase agreement for US$500,000.
  • Brokerage House in Panama for US$500,000 free of liens. 
  • A fixed-term deposit for US$750,000 or more free of liens in a local bank in Panama.

WHAT ADVANTAGES DOES THE PERMANENT RESIDENT PERMIT OFFER AS A QUALIFIED INVESTOR?

  • The application for the permit can be made through our law offices before the entry of the applicant and their dependents to Panama, as long as the affiliation process is complied with in the Immigration Registry of the National Immigration Service.
  • The permit request is resolved within thirty (30) business days from its submission.
  • The process is expedited compared to other immigration programs in Panama. Unlike other immigration categories, it is carried out directly before the National Directorate for the Promotion of Investments of the Ministry of Commerce and Industries and the National Immigration Service extension office created for this specific permit.
  • Grants permanent residence immediately.
  • It allows the change of immigration category to those who have initiated applications for provisional permits of permanence as their self-economic solvency.
  • Until October 15, 2024, the minimum real estate investment required will be US$300,000.
